Deborah Foundation, in collaboration with Addis Ababa University College of Health Sciences Department of Ophthalmology and Biruh Vision Specialized Eye Clinic, conducted a free eye screening pilot program which also consisted of treatment with an eyeglass prescription for refractive errors for children with intellectual disability on Sunday, July 18, 2021. This is one of our foundation’s initiatives to provide comprehensive healthcare to children with intellectual disability, and vision is an essential part of it.
More than 40 children were evaluated for different eye problems among whom 14 were given glass prescriptions of different kinds. And another 4 children were identified to have an eye problem which needs to be treated further at an advanced level. Subsequent follow-ups are scheduled by the Department of Ophthalmology in our next program.
